It’s one of the most appreciated and well-known events in Sicily – a sensational celebration of spring that attracts thousands of visitors every year. From May 16th to May 18th, the 26th Edition of the Flower Festival in Noto will take place as part of the “Primavera Barocca” (Baroque Spring) celebrations, which includes a number of other interesting events aimed at glorifying the beautiful and pleasant south-eastern Sicilian spring.
And if you decided to spend your holiday in our villas in Noto and its surrounding in this period, kudos to you – as May and September are the best months to visit Sicily indeed. You’ll find a mild and warm weather, the most famous tourist destinations won’t be much crowded, and nature will be at its best: lush, luxuriant, blooming – a true delight for your eyes and soul.
And what’s the best way to celebrate such a blooming and lush nature, if not a flower festival?! The Capital of Sicilian Baroque, Noto, is elegant and lavish; its sun-drenched streets are studded with extraordinary palaces with their sinuous lines and curves, and sumptuous churches can be found all over the town… And on the third weekend of May, a beautiful flowering carpet will be unrolled all along Via Nicolaci (the street that houses the most outstanding balconies in the world, some say) by the best flower artists of the area.
As always, flower artists are given a specific topic: this year it’s going to be a “Tribute to Russia”. Their work has already started: they’ve been drawing sketches for weeks and, before the weekend, they’ll be creating their sketch on the floor of Via Nicolaci by using colourful flowers. The ideal celebration of spring in the most elegant and authentic baroque town of the area – there is no way you can miss the Infiorata di Noto 2014!
